A music concert was organized on 6th February 2025 in memory of the legendary Tabla maestro, the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, by Navnirman Sanskritik Manch, Maharashtra. This event was a tribute to the renowned artist who elevated India’s prestige in the global music world through his boundaryless music. It was an effort to honor a maestro who remained secular to the core, using music as a means to amplify the voice of humanity.
Several eminent personalities from the music world attended the event, which was enjoyed by a large, diverse audience. The renowned disciple of Ustad Allarkhan and Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Aditya Kalyanpur, mesmerized the audience with his magical performance. Neel Khopkar, a disciple of Vidushi Neela Bhagwat, also captivated the audience with his rendition of Kabir Gyan. The theme of the concert highlighted the secular ethos within the music world and our progressive Indian traditions.
Music critic and eminent Tabla player, Nisarg Dehukar, shared insights into Ustad Zakir Hussain’s Tabla music, using slides to illustrate the distinct features, strengths, and contributions of the maestro to the art form.
